FERNANDO E.  SOLANAS



(1936, Buenos Aires) wrote, shot and produced his first two documentaries, SEGUIR ANDANDO and REFLEXIÓN CIUDADANA between 1962 and 1963. He became one of the leading members of the ‘Cine liberación’ film movement. THE HOUR OF THE FURNACES, made with Octavio Getino, circulated clandestinely and was awarded at the historic 1968 edition of the Pesaro Film Festival. He spent the 1970s as an exile in Paris due to the dictatorship in Argentina. Back in his homeland, he served as a member of parliament from 1993-97 and has made feature films and other documentaries on Argentina’s current political and economic situation.
