synopsis
The documentary looks at the trial held at the La Spezia Military Tribunal from February 2006 to January 2007, on the roles of 17 former German SS soldiers in the crimes perpetrated in autumn 1944 in Italy, during what is considered to be the largest Nazi slaughter of Western Europe: the Marzabotto massacre. The massacre took place in the Apennine mountains in the region of Bologna, at Monte Sole, where an entire SS division, under the command of Major Walter Reder, killed over 700 unarmed civilians, including men, women, the sick, the elderly and children.
