THE ZONE WINS FIPRESCI PRIZE AT TIFF 2007
25/09/2007
The International Critics' Prize (FIPRESCI Prize) of the 23rd Toronto International Film Festival goes to The Zone directed by Rodrigo Plá which premiered at Venice Days 2007, earlier this month.
In Venice Rodrigo Plá has been awarded with the Dino De Laurentiis Award 2007, the prestigious Lion of the Future.
Following the Jury motivation, The Zone makes a subtle use of cinematographic codes (thriller, anticipation) bringing to light a sadly realistic dichotomy: the gap in Mexican society and the frailty of human convictions.
The FIPRESCI Jury at the 32nd Toronto International Film Festival is composed by: Grégory Valens, Positif - France - Jury President; Pamela Biénzobas, La Tercera - Chile; Scott Foundas, L.A. Weekly - USA; Katherine Monk, CanWest News Services - Canada
