FOR THE THIRD YEAR IN A ROW THE LION OF THE FUTURE, “LUIGI DE LAURENTIIS” AWARD GOES TO A FILM SELECTED BY VENICE DAYS - LA ZONA BY RODRIGO PLA’

Venice Days, the independent sidebar of the Venice Film Festival, directed for the second year by Fabio Ferzetti, has won another important award – the prestigious Lion of the Future - “Luigi De Laurentiis” Award, assigned to the film La Zona by Rodrigo Pla’.
The Jury was composed by Bill Mechanic (president), Rupert Everett, Randa Chahal, Liu Jie and Valeria Solarino. The award consists in 100.000 USD offered by Filmauro and in 40.000 Euro to be spent in film.
This important award goes for the third year in a row to Venice Days. In 2005 the prize was awarded to 13 – (TZAMETI) by Gela Babluani and in 2006 to KHADAK by Peter Brosens and Jessica Woodworth.
La Zona (Spain/Mexico) by Rodrigo Pla’ is starred by Daniel Jiménez Cacho, Daniel Tovar, Alan Chàvez, Carlos Bardem, Mario Zaragoza, Marina de Tavira, Maribel Verdù. The film is produced by Buenaventura Producciones Estrategia, Jaleo Films, Group Joan Andreu, Vega Films, Orio Produkzioak, and worldwide sold by Wild Bunch.
